The Village: Salamander Resort and Spa – Black owned Resort and Spa
Sheila Johnson has built a resort and spa. It’s called the Salamander Resort and Spa, and it’s located in the mountains of Virginia. She also owns three Salamander Resorts in Florida and another one in North Carolina.
Set on 340 acres, this luxe country retreat is less than 1 mile from the National Sporting Library & Museum and 21 miles from Manassas National Battlefield Park.
The refined rooms have fridges, minibars and coffeemakers, as well as free WiFi and flat-screen TVs; some add fireplaces. Suites feature separate living areas and balconies.
There’s a posh destination spa, cooking studio, farm-to-table restaurant and wine bar on-site, and activities such as zip-lining tours and horseback riding lessons are available (fee). Other amenities include 3 pools, a putting green and bike rentals.
